The upcoming Timberland Investment Conference will cover many of the traditional aspects of timberland investment and ownership but the theme this year will focus particularly on the long-term nature of timberland ownership and the “green” future that lies ahead for timberland.
For this reason, the Conference theme is:
The Timberland Asset: The Long Term Investment with the Bright Green Future
Due to the long term nature of forestry investments, we think it’s relevant for the forestry investment community to hear about interesting new perspectives on long term ownership from various landowners. Long term owners focus on returns during both good times and bad. For this reason, we have assembled a private family forestland owner panel composed of individuals who will share how they have responded to a changing competitive environment with a special blend of local and global markets.
The five family firms comprising the panel this year represent around 800,000 acres of timberland holdings about an hour’s drive from the Conference venue. They have been in business from 80 to 120 years and have been challenged by two World wars, the Great Depression, the Great Recession, three catastrophic fires and much more.
Bill Lawrence, Chair of Superior Pine, will moderate the panel and set the tone for the session. You don’t want to miss this special feature including the following speakers:
- Wesley Langdale, The Langdale Company
- Dotty Porter, Sessoms Timber Trust
- Andy Stone, Superior Pine Products Company
- Joe Hopkins, Toledo Manufacturing Company
- Will Varn, Varn, Inc.
