Forest Industry Shapefiles – a semi-annual publication (Shapefiles and Excel) on location, characteristics, current status and estimated wood demand of primary wood using facilities in US and operating wood-using bioenergy facilities.The Shapefiles capture three regions in the US – North, South and West.
Forest Industry Shapefiles include name and type of facility (e.g. lumber, pulp/paper, plywood/veneer, etc.), wood use type, roundwood use, estimate of capacity and wood demand at capacity. In addition the Shapefiles capture end-use type products produced at facility, address and precise coordinates (see Figure below).

Current users of the Shapefiles include TIMOs, forest products companies and forestry consultants. Information contained in Shapefiles helps its users to conduct a quick capacity and demand-at-capacity assessment and have access to the latest status and capacity of mills within current or perspective procurement area or timber market.
