The Wood Demand Research Program was established at the Center for Forest Business in March 2012 after Forisk Consulting donated Wood Demand and Forest industry shapefiles data to the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. The Program consists of two primary areas of research:
The program collects wood demand data from participating data providers on quarterly basis, although each quarter we collect monthly data within each quarter. The Wood Demand Research Program publishes wood demand related research, publications and data, such as:
- Wood Demand Report – a quarterly publication on wood consumption in US South
- Forest Industry Shapefiles – a semi-annual publication (shapefiles and Excel formats) on location, characteristics and current status of primary wood-using faclilities in US and operating wood-using bioenergy facilities
- Quarterly and monthly wood demand data by states and wood baskets to subscribers
- Shapefiles and maps of wood-using facilities
Current subscribers to WDRP’s research and publications include forest products industry firms, TIMOs and forest counsulting firms.
